Title: Stu's [NTHW] LAN
Post by: [NTHW] Clan on 24 June 2012, 10:30: AM
We've just completed another NTHellWorld LAN Party.  We're grateful to Stu's wife who offered to vacate her home allowing 14 of us to invade for the weekend.  Apparently the one golden rule was her tomato plant's being kept indoors, were not to be harmed :sorry:

As ever seating arrangements were a cosy.  For some reason there was a little competition for seating in the conservatory rather than the study, which was fine until the rain came and Gottu found himself in a damp patch.

After a little bit of fiddling, the Virgin Media Superhub was thrust into modem mode, as it didn't want to support our multiple gaming users properly.  Apart from running the risks of the service getting further throttled, our gigabit LAN supported our gaming needs and other file shares nicely.

A NTHW LAN isn't a LAN without a computer build.  Bop faced up to the challenge with an assorted range of components, lack of manuals  :rtfm:, and somehow finally had a machine running by 11pm on Saturday  :pcbang:

Stu's catering services took care of our breakfast needs.  The local Chinese and burger / kebab takeaways did sterling business for our evening meals.  We have to say thanks to Gottu for supplying some rather tasty cakes

Our main gaming proved to be Battlefield 3's Conquest gametype with the original flight based maps using our GamingDeluxe hosted servers.  You might think that all this practice would result in our piloting skills showing improvement, but we can live in hope.

A few too many cameras, and some video, were thrust into the faces of unsuspecting subjects.  For those who couldn't make it, you might be able to see what you missed as the incriminating evidence is published.

Anticipation is already building for the next LAN.  The only question is when, and who will be the mad volunteer to be host?

Was good to see everyone again and welcome a new face to the crowd (Stormprooter)  :tu:

Yay home, set back up, crap put back into it's holes until the next one.  Now it's time for some shut eye without Rammy's snoring to wake me up again

Was great to see everyone, even if you still don't show me any respect and just want the easy kills

And big thanks to Stu for putting up with us again.  :notworthy:  I just hope the tomato plants don't need too many bandages :erm:

A big thanks to everyone for inviting me along, especially Stu who was a great host, and a great breakfast cook (with help from Thannis - please tell him thankyou again from me for helping out with breakfast).

Had a really good time chilling, leeching, gaming and meeting everyone in person.

I had a clear run home and got back at 3PM only to realise I had left my wash kit in Stu's bathroom  So when you find it Stu, I left it there :D

Again thanks to all, I am going to bed now, and probably won't be on for SNG - though I hope I can muster the energy to at least get on for an hour later - will have to drink a few pints of strong coffee :D

Cheers

It was a pleasure to see you all again, Glad everyone enjoyed themselves :tu:

Normally the advantage of being the host is that your back on line hours before everyone else, as you can see this didn't happen this time :( so next time I say "no you all sod off home I'll tidy up" slap me and tell me not to be so daft :D

Anyone know how often tomato plants need watering

Found the wash kit Storm we thought it was Ste's

I'd really like my electric toothbrush back too :(

I can get a courier to come and fetch the washbag - but Stu would need to package it in a cardboard box - would that be possible ???

Thinking about it, no packaging would be required - If I remember correctly the courier will bring a posting bag to put it in - I did this last year (although the other way around) I found someone's mobile phone on the beach, hacked into it to get their email address, and contacted the owner - he then arranged for UPS to pick it up from me - all very easy.

All I need to know is when Stu is going to be in for the courier to collect it.

A few more things to mention about my drive back.

1. Blurred vision just like the suppression effect in BF3 when others overtook me on the motorway
2. Every now and then I thought I could here the weapon lock noise from BF3
3. I kept looking in the rear view mirror and expecting to find squeak running behind trying to plant some C4 on my little Fiat 500.

:)

But I made it safely all the same.

Is the remote for a Goodmans ?

Not a clue mate it doesn't state any manufacturer on it, its old, its silver and its a health hazard there's so much muck and filth between the keys most of which have no markings left due to wear.

All I need to know is when Stu is going to be in for the courier to collect it.

PM me full name and address details mate I'll box it up and you can get the courier to collect it from the stores at work

That will be the one. The remote was in the out house for ages. Any chance you can send it to me at Manchester or are you coming up for a meeting any time soon.

From the description of this remote, Stu isn't going to be volunteering for another LAN anytime soon, unless decontamination facilities are in place

If the remote is in that poor a condition, would sending it by courier be in breach of their carriage of hazardous goods rules :erm:

Don't think it needs a courier, by the way it looked it could probably walk to Bills.

Not for a few weeks, I'll not be seeing Boyer until about the 11th June either. Do K&N deliver to Wythensure?
