Forum User Profile - email active

By default your user profile will have a setting checked allowing other users to email you.  That will also help the bots send you loads of spam

To turn that off from the navigation menu above:  Profile > Account Settings - uncheck "Allow Users to email me"

If I can find a way to uncheck by default I'll do so, but in the meantime it's up to you to set your profile as you wish.

mgp, I dont think we'll have that many spammers as you got some additional security features on here now... ie the calculator and letter thing (not just the captcha)

Yep but they may not have to be registered to view profile information, especially bots that are correctly set up search engine spiders.

But there is one other bit of kit that will keep some of the spam bots away, the Bad Behaviour thing you can see listed at the bottom of the page.

Some of that may just be that with the forum being down for a while their may not have been any new activity to attract the spiders
